Drumroll please…. 2018 is going to be the festival version of a gap year for the Woolly West Fest – but a very productive gap year!

Firstly, we are an actual incorporated THANG now. This means that we have other committee members to remind us to have meetings. Also, we are already planning for a massive 2019 fest.

Secondly, we are woolly proud to be partnering with Artlands and Regional Arts Victoria on a little project we like to call Crafting the Merch (because that is what it’s called..)

Artlands is a biennial national conference celebrating all things regional arts. This year it’s happening in Bendigo and Castlemaine (October).  The ‘Merch’ is wool-crafted scarves that will be given as gifts to conference-goers, and we’re crafting them! We already have over 70 individual participants who are busily knitting, crocheting, weaving, felting, and possibly pioneering other wool-craft techniques we’ve ever even heard of – in one giant, woolly display of the incredible talent and generosity in our south west community.

If you’d like to part of the Artlands 2018 scarfy-knitty posse, the very general brief is:

Scarf. Wool. Yellow (as component, if not entirety)

South-west Victoria folk: you are so lucky because we have regular knit-a-longs with cream powder puffs. Email us here for details.

Everyone else: We love you too but powder puffs don’t travel well in the mail! The Artlands crew will be very lovely to you however – click here for further info.
